Who doesn’t love soaking in those glorious rays of sun during the hot summer months? Lounging by the pool and spending time at the beach, there is nothing better.
But sitting for hours on end in the sun with little to no protection, over exposing yourself to its harsh UV rays which penetrate the skin, can have some negative impacts on your skin, such as premature aging and, in some cases, skin cancer.
Things like wrinkles, age spots, changes in pigmentation, redness and decreased elasticity, are just a few of the giveaway signs that your skin has been damaged by the sun.
If your skin is showing some of these signs, fear not – there are some treatments which can achieve noticeable results and reduce the damage.
Laser Pigmentation Removal
Using the latest, medical grade, pigmentation laser technology, this treatment allows you to experience a greatly improved and/or reduction of age spots, freckles and wrinkles on your face, neck, decolletage and hands.
To see results, treatments typically require approximately 2-4 sessions at 1 month apart. Results may vary, depending on skin types.
Enzyme Peeling Treatment
This treatment is perfect for dry, sun damaged skin. We recommend having weekly treatments to help soften the skin and allow easier penetration of the products. This specialised peeling treatment, with organic and all natural enzymes from an ancient type of grain (spelt), gently removes any dead skin cells. This deep exfoliation is suitable for even the most sensitive sun damaged skins.
Jane Iredale Cosmetics – Amazing Base Loose Mineral Powder SPF 20
Available in cool, warm and neutral shades, this Mineral Powder with SPF 20 broad spectrum sun protection, is the perfect addition to your makeup routine.
Free of synthetic chemicals and water resistant for up to 40 minutes, this powder is perfect for the reapplication of SPF throughout the day – especially for when you have a full face of makeup and are unable to apply a sunscreen cream on top.
Keep in mind that to truly protect yourself from the harsh effects of the suns UVA/UVB rays, including skin cancer, prevention is better than cure. So, the next time you’re exposed to the sun, be sure to apply and reapply SPF every two hours to protect your skin.
Our favourite is the O Cosmedics ‘Mineral Pro SPF 30+ Sheer Tint’, a sheer lightweight lotion providing broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection, whilst giving a natural glow to the skin. Keep an eye out, as this product will be coming in store soon.
